So close, but no Target met.
Gitui.com is a fairly new blog. Its been going on since early this year. I have only now had a better flow of traffic on the blog. People are only starting to find it now.
Yesterday I set out to get a 100 people to my blog. I was so very close.
I think that its quite important to set goals and try to meet them. Not to be unrealistic. Be within reason. Yes, its dissapointing when you don’t meet it, but it feels so great when you do. If you get very close its gives you persaverence. So I’m going to set out to get my 100 visitors. meet my goal.
Maybe you can help?
What kind of visitor are you?
I visit alot of blogs during the day. Some of them I hang around for a while, others I look at and leave quickly. Today I started thinking, “What kind of visitor am I.”
You get kind of visitors:
1. The Fly by visitor.
This is a kind of visitor that comes to your site, takes one look at it, and moves on. They generally are not all that interested in what you have to say and what you have on your Site/blog.
When I come across a blog about Growing vegetables, I leave quite quickly. I have no Interest in Growing stuff.
2. The Click Happy visitor
These visitor generally don’t stay very long, they click more than the minutes they stay. This is Ok, They are interested in what you have to say, but not really into reading what you wrote.
3. The comment Friendly visitor
These visitors love leaving comments. They like to tell you what is on their mind. Their comments might not always be what you want it to be, but they will comment on it. Some of them might leave comments like “nice post” or something simmilair to that. Its not really worth much, but it still counts.
4. The interested visitor
These Visitors are great! They are actually really interested in what you have to say. They might be visitors that came from search engines or are subscribed to your RSS feeds. This means they are looking for what you have written. These people also like leaving comments. Their comments are more constuctive and worth something. They might be questions, and they love for you to answer those Questions.
So tell me, what kind of visitor are you? What are you interested in?
Any Web Traffic Is Good Traffic
I was doing some experimental “testing” with Blog Exsplosion. A traffic Generating site.
I’ve come to the conclusion: Any traffic is good traffic. Blog Explosion’s visitors stay about 30 to 60 seconds. So that’s not really all that great. On the flip side though, My rankings have gone up on amatomu, and I get alot more exposure than I normally would.
The same goes for Stumbleupon users, they generally don’t stay all that long, the have a quick glance at your blog and off they go. The good thing about Stumbleupon users, they like pressing the thumbs up button. Witch is really great.
The Visitors that come accross your blog and stay for a while generally end up coming back. They are great. The leave comments, and actually read what you have written.
So I would safely say: Any Traffic is good traffic, or, No traffic is bad traffic.
Importance of the layout of your website
When I go to a website, the first thing I see is the top right of that website. I don’t know why, but it catches my attention.
After that, if something sticks out, that will grab my attention. But if the page looks messy and I struggle to find what I’m looking for. I end up leaving that site in a hurry.
Why?
It confuses me. I feel like that person/company don’t really know what they are doing. In today’s day and age people are lazy. Its not like the old days where you would pick up the telephone book and look for the telephone number you want. You just go looking for it on the internet. Now if someone is looking for your company and they come across your website. They will look for your contact details. If they can’t find it easily, they will stop looking and try to find someone else. You just lost a client.
If the website is pleasing to the eye, people tend to stay longer. If there is a lot happening and you can still keep their attention by having a well laid out site, you have accomplished your goal with your website.
You website should not look empty nor over full. You will have to find the balance for yourself.
Your logo should be well placed, ie. somewhere people can see it clearly. That way, your visitors will know that they have found the right website. I think you call it brand recognition. If your logo is hiding somewhere at the bottom of you page, it will take the people a while to find it. If they are not in the mood for searching, they will leave, not knowing that they were on the right website.
So you see why its important for you to spend time, and maybe more money on your website?
It helps, and really makes a difference.
