Microsoft, Scaly or clever?
Any of you who has bought A laptop in the last couple of months will know, that when you Buy a new laptop, it
comes loaded with windows vista, and office 2007.
you work with it for a couple of weeks, and all of a sudden it wont work at all. It keeps on asking you to activate your copy of office 2007. Why?
Every laptop is now shipped like that. Vista works fine and you have a windows vista cd key. But Microsoft office expires after a couple of days. You need to purchase a copy of Microsoft office in order for you to continue to use it. That’s fine, We all understand that to use something, you need to pay for it. But why get your hopes up?
I think its a really great sales strategy, but maybe its not all that well thought out.
I sold a laptop to someone the other day, and after I told them about office 2007 going to expire soon, they got upset and almost told me to take back the laptop. I calmed them down and everything is now fine, except, they don’t like Microsoft anymore.
So is the way Microsoft is pushing their product right? Or should it not be done like that?
Don’t go windows xp service pack 3, yet
I’ve gone out to a lot of clients in the past couple of weeks having to remove service pack 3 for windows xp because it was causing trouble on their computer. One of the big things that was the issue, was there was no network connection.
One of the big incompatibility issues was with Symantec Notron security applicaqtions. Norton has something called Symprotect, wich protects norton itself from attacks. There is a big incompatabilty between Synprotect and Windows xp Service pack 3.
Another Issue that caused the internet to go down on computers with service pack 3 is the use of billion routers. Service pack 3 Apparently makes these routers reboot the whole time. Therefore there would be no internet as the routers are always rebooting.
Here are some ways you can fix your service pack 3 problems.
As above mentioned, the first thing you could do is remove Service pack 3 and go back to service pack 2. That should be fine, and you can download and istall service pack 3 at a later stage.
Another option is removing norton software. This is not really reccomended if you don’t have any other anti virus or protection software.

Using the net to remember.
Is there a birthday coming up, anniversary maybe. Do you have trouble remembering your appointments you need to get to?
Well, you can use the internet to help you remember. Lets start with birthday’s: With myspace.com you get an email about a week before the actual birthday, reminding you about it.
Facebook does a similar thing. When you log into your Facebook account, have a look on the left, Click on events. You will then see there are 4 tabs at the top. (upcoming events, Friends events, past events, and birthdays.) you guessed it, Click on birthdays and it will show you a list of birthdays of your friends.
With Google calender you can have sms’s sent to your phone according to what you have set in your calender. You have PDA’s that syncronize with your microsoft outlook calender and notify you a couple of minutes, hours or days before your appointment. You can also let outlook play a noise for you, and notify you.
So there are lots of ways you can have the internet/your computer notify you about birthdays or appointments.
So if you have trouble remembering about things like this. Try setting up your computer to help you remember.
