Why bloggers need to follow blogs
Posted on 22. Sep, 2009 by Robert in Internet, Tips
When I first started bloggin, I was the only one in my group of friends that had a blog. After a while one or two of my friends got blogs, I helped them out a little and once they got going, I almost never gave their blogs any attention. Sorry guys.
As I slowly moved on with my blogs and started learning more and more about blogs and writing content for people, I found myself reading more blogs and things than ever. Why was it so? For starters I was making more and more friends around the blog-sphere and found other bloggers that write things related to my blog really interesting. It ranged from getting traffic to your blog to how to write posts people would want to read.
Following other blogs and keeping up with them I got alot more in return than I thought:
- I learned about new trends on the internet
- I got ideas while reading other peoples blogs
- I got incoming links from blogs where I left comments
- I learned more about my industry
- I read about news that would affect me and my blogs
So by following other blogs I got more than I bargained for, in a good way…
Learning about trends on the internet.
Without following eliteblogger I would probably not be on twitter and I would never have thought of using twitter as a marketing tool.
Getting ideas while reading other peoples posts
I was reading a post earlier today about blogging for beginners and thought of writing this post. I was browsing through some old posts of problogger and had no idea what I can blog about.
Incoming links from other blogs
I left a comment on gwntec blog quite a while ago, and still today I get some links coming in from that blog post. So its always worth posting good comments on other blogs.
Learning about what you like
No matter who you are, there is always something you like to learn about, whether its something you do at work, or if its something you like to learn and keep to yourself. There is almost no topic on the internet that does not get discussed and there will always be a blogĀ or website about it. It keeps your mind healthy.
Something that will affect your blog
Lets face it, a blog without visitors is dead. And with everyone out there wanting a piece of the pie its important to keep up to date with trends, news and anything that will affect your blogs. Today I found out that Afrigator has changed their blog ranking algorithm, and so my blog will be affected. If the news were to be quite devastating, I can still have a chance to redeem my blog before its too late.
