Google, Bing and twitter threesome.
Posted on 22. Oct, 2009 by Robert in Internet
As we all know, twitter is a great way of communicating and has made a really big impression on internet users. Google is the biggest search engine and used by almost everyone, and bing, microsfts search engine, is joining in on twitters popularity.
Google and Bing will soon be crawling over twitter tweets. Being indexed by these search engines.
Taken from the Google blog:
Given this new type of information and its value to search, we are very excited to announce that we have reached an agreement with Twitter to include their updates in our search results. We believe that our search results and user experience will greatly benefit from the inclusion of this up-to-the-minute data, and we look forward to having a product that showcases how tweets can make search better in the coming months. That way, the next time you search for something that can be aided by a real-time observation, say, snow conditions at your favorite ski resort, you’ll find tweets from other users who are there and sharing the latest and greatest information.
I personally don’t mind Google and Bing searching my twitter feeds. I use it to promote certain things and don’t really share personal data with anyone else on twitter. But for some other people it might be really offensive.
What do you think?
