Credibility of blog posts
Posted on 10. Dec, 2008 by Robert in Internet
Have you ever read a blog and found out something really interesting? You go out to lunch and tell your friends about it, and it turns out to be completely false?
That has happened to me more than I would like to admit. Its embarrassing and makes you feel very small.
I work as a network specialist, and with internet every day. If I start post about “Britney spears being dead, or tell you that Pink has committed suicide because of some song that did not go well”. I will be talking rubbish.
Because I don’t know. Thats not my kind of thing.
It is so easy to get a blog or make a public statement on the internet now days. With Blogging services and Facebook. Anyone from a 10 year old kid to your Great Grand mother can have a blog. If one of them were to hear something wrong or just want some attention, they can easily say that “the artist pink is dead, Committed suicide.
She jumped out of …”
and it just goes on from there.
Before you believe a blog post or a news article, make sure that the info you are getting is correct.
this is how you can make sure:
1. Have a look at the rest of that blog or website, If they talk about celebrities, and they are clued up and follow them often, the article might have some truth in it.
But if the blog/website is about racing cars and all of a sudden they start talking about Leona Lewis and artists alike, then the post is most probably a hoax.
2. Check with other websites or blogs. Do a google search about it and see what the rest of the internet is saying on the toppic. If more than 2 or so websites firmly believe it, then well. make up your own mind. It might be true.
3. check out that person/company/county or whatever its about’s website. If it was something really big, check out cnn, or another big news company. If they don’t say anthing about it after a day, then its probably not true.
It all really boils down to doing propper research and making sure you have all your facts straight.

How sad, I can’t believe she has passed on after all that she has come through. RIP Britney!!!!
