Microsoft, Scaly or clever?

November 10, 2008 · Filed Under Computer · 1 Comment

Any of you who has bought A laptop in the last couple of months will know, that when you Buy a new laptop, it comes loaded with windows vista, and office 2007.

you work with it for a couple of weeks, and all of a sudden it wont work at all. It keeps on asking you to activate your copy of office 2007. Why?

Every laptop is now shipped like that. Vista works fine and you have a windows vista cd key. But Microsoft office expires after a couple of days. You need to purchase a copy of Microsoft office in order for you to continue to use it. That’s fine, We all understand that to use something, you need to pay for it. But why get your hopes up?

I think its a really great sales strategy, but maybe its not all that well thought out.

I sold a laptop to someone the other day, and after I told them about office 2007 going to expire soon, they got upset and almost told me to take back the laptop. I calmed them down and everything is now fine, except, they don’t like Microsoft anymore.

So is the way Microsoft is pushing their product right? Or should it not be done like that?

How to see who links to you

November 8, 2008 · Filed Under Internet · Comment

Links are quite a big part of making a success of your site or blog on the internet. Read my philosophy on links

Once you’ve established a blog and have it running for a while you would like to see how many other sites link to you.

You can do this by using Google.

Simply go to google.com and type in: link: www.gitui.com where gitui.com is your sites name. That’s it.

That will then bring up results of anywhere there are links to your site or blog. Its a great tool you can use.

It shows that your blog or website is actually growing in popularity on the internet.
